A few weeks ago I replaced the drivechain on the singlespeed with new bits. Shimano 9speed Deore chainring, gusset 5/64" cog, pc951 chain. At the same time I upped the gearing from 32/18 to a more manly ego boosting 32/16. The chain has since broken twice. Both times on standard links, both times on full power uphill sections. My chain stretch meter is showing 0.5.

Are the pc951s all this bad, am I suddenly generating chain snapping power due to the gearing change or do I have some gear compatibility issues.

Seems unlucky, but then I've also been repeatedly unlucky with cheaper sram chains. The PC1 being the worst for this.

Maybe try a kmc z610. About £10 and well worth it for singlespeed purposes.

I use a PC7X as was recommended to me, had 2, done a lot of miles on them, never snapped.

I generally use pc971 & have had 1 very worn one snap in years of SS. Currently using either 34:15 or 36:13 26"

Have used a number of other chains, apart from varying strechiness none has let me down
