I want to get get an idea of the length and overall climbing in a route I'm working out. Is there a reasonable (free) on-line method of doing this? Using OS mapping would be handy as well...
thanks.

https://www.bikemap.net/ is much more friendly to use and has more features IMO but doesn't do OS (uses Google, Openstreet map and somthing else).

Big fan of Bikehike as above - gives you a nice height chart too if you click "show elevation data" in the right-hand panel.

Bikehike is great because of the dual OS / Google (or OSM) mapping interface. *And* it uses an auto routing mechanism to join up the points using roads/tracks when creating a new route.

Bikehike for me. The distance measurement usually corresponds to my bike computer measurement by within a tenth of a mile.
