Hi dont normally post about these matters but i have been off the bike for around three months now.
Used to commute everyday for last approximately 10 years 15/20 miles a day five days a week and used to mtb ride for fun.
Since picking up this injury specialists have neen seen (waste off money), and nhs sports physio has been great.
I am on the mend i feel and fitness feels as though its long gone.
Thoughts are returning to cycling but more for fun and to race like i did many years ago.
Motivation and help needed.
Cheers
What was the injury?
I injured my SI joints doing gardening a long time ago. I've found that a good chiropractor can help a lot, but they are hard to find. Don't go to one of those wholistic healing chiros who try get you to come twice a week for the rest of your life, but try find someone who works in the sports field.
Using that to free up movement, and a strength routine to stabilize my back, I haven't had issues for years.
What did the physio get you doing out of interest?
I'm often tweeking the si ligament which can be a royal pita!
I see a sports massage, he gives it some deep tissue massage. That settles it down but it often returns..
Basically my si joint was playing up and causing my lower back to go into spasm.
Apparently very common if not caught early enough and neeeded to free off my back before working on si joint.
I apparently have a leg imbalance of around 7mm so am very wary about causing more problems.
Told rest and stretching and core training is what will help in future as i have been told that due to cycling i have a muscle imbalance which needs addressing.
