Here's mine, a quiver-killer if ever there was one - been road riding, touring, cross riding, enduro riding & will bike-pack once it's gone out of fashion.

It'll be getting a proper cassette (13-26 or 11-28 8 speed) and Thudbuster. Am getting some spacers made up to run the dynohub wheel with my SC32s on the fattie too.

Looks great.

Would you not be better bodging some single ring at the front, just for simplicity and lack of knackering kit...?

I had a wee test ride around on Saturday and think this is pretty much set up as I want. I may have an old rear mudguard on standby, in case it gets really grim. The spikes were not really needed except for a few short stretches, but by yesterday the ice was almost all gone. Good resistance training though 🙂

I'll be running this as part of a quad team:

[img] [/img]

Rode the same frame last year, but it's had new forks, cranks, wheels, tyres, post, cassette, chain and brakes since then 🙂

Lowering the forks, pumping up the suspension, longer stem, narrower bar and probably whacking on some ice tyres.

Will put a triple on lurcher if I get time, otherwise it'll be as seen. Mukluk and Krampus on standby. Liking your steed Al.

Nice. Is that a Sturmey Archer? How do you find it on a trail bike? More info please!

It is indeed a Sturmey Archer. I'm using it with a 34t chainring and the supplied 20t sprocket. I look at it as singlespeed +, just hack around as a singlespeed but have an extra wee climbing gear for when the trail heads up and a higher gear for the flat and downhills. I really wanted to keep the clean lines and keep it simple mechanically, it all seems to be working so far.

I'm in awe of your shed tidiness, Brian.

You need to keep tidy if you have a small garage but it needs to house:

-a dozen bikes
- a dozen frames
- a dozen retro forks
- one BMW motorcycle in bits
- the entire Sturmey back catalogue, at least one of each
- approx 30 odd shaped handlebars
- several boxes of spare drivetrains, the stranger the better

among other things 🙂

Not a great photo but planning on riding this mostly. Unless it very icy, in which case I'll be riding a 26in inbred as that's the bike I"ve got studded tyres for and I'm too much of a tight arse to spend £70 per tyre on 29er ones.

The only thing the various weather forecasts seem to agree on, is that it isn't going to pour with rain for 24hrs. I'll take that.

Sorry, don't have my usual transport so don't have time this year.

But the snow has been bucketing down in Dingwall. Looks promising for the race. 🙂
