Have emailed Madison, of course, but wondered what your take on these are.
I was experiencing a lot of creaking which I put down to a dirty seatpost or some such. On closer inspection though, it would appear that cracks have started to go into the welds :(. One is quite deep where the shock mount joins the top tube.
So..is this it for my frame? how was yours.?

gutted as the bike hasnt done many miles and I am a big baby who never really gets the wheels off the ground. On the plus side, riding in the woods today was [i]ACE!!![/i]
THat's an '09 I take it? A lot seemed to go at that weld. Seems like that was the worst year for Metas. My 08 never batted an eyelid at anything I did to it, and the '10 models seem to be doing well also.
Thats where my mates meta 5.5 xt cracked, if its under 2 years old and your the original owner and have proof of purchase then take it back to your dealer and they'll send it back to madison who will replace it with a 2010 model. The 2010 frames are being manufactured somewhere different and are so far not having the issues of last year (cracks at the seatube weld and shock mounts).
My mates was about 3 weeks turnaround, madison are well aware of the issues.
I know this isn't first hand experience but is fact (before any defensive commie owners pounce).
