Love riding it rigid but cant seem to shake off a shoulder pain, so (sadly) rigid days might be numbered. 😕

Will confess to a couple of hardtails with big wheels and gears.

This is my only bike. I do have an Alfine 8 back wheel that I mainly use for road/flat stuff (attached to the rest of the bike, obviously...)

My other bikes are 26" with gears and SS.

This one's been resurrected as I was hankering after a SS cross bike for lunch rides and realised this was hanging around. Will be putting some cross tyres on soon for a couple of races.

Only mountain bike ? Well, yes and no.
I swap between SS and Rohloff rear wheels.
I've done over 2000km SS in the last 5 months on it.

Picked this up from Triton for the pricely sum of £420. First 29er, so we'll see how I get on with it. Commuting duies over the weekend then it's first proper ride monday. Saddle and bars will be changed asap (personal preference). Weighs in at 25.5lbs/11.5kg for a XL/20"

I'd love to know how many of you are using these as your only (mountain) bike

I started on a 20" wheeled Airnimal Rhino and graduated to my Singlespeed Kona Unit 29er. I'm used to riding fixed on the road, so thought why not? So yes, it's my only mountain bike. It's a regular at Swinley, been to Afan, Cwmcarn, Cannock and I broke it on Haldon last week (trashed the frewheel pawls). I ride red runs and the occasional black.

I hoped something rigid would hone my (limited) skills. And something with only one gear would hone my (limited) legs to offroad riding. But I'm now thinking of something with some bouncier/lighter/racier/gearier for race duties.

sas78- I'm 6'2" with an inside leg of around 36"... so quite leggy. Run my saddle around 82cm from centre of bb to top of saddle, was stuck between the L and XL, the XL was the right choice for an XC bike. One days commuting so far and been impressed, didn't take much longer than on my old commuting bike with 34mm tyres. Don't feel perched on top, more part of the bike.

So far couple of issues.
The brakes are w**k, they weren't set up properly out of the box, but after a proper setup they just don't work properly.
The stack height on the front is pretty high. Removed the 20mm or so of spacers, flipped the stem and ordered some flat bars. But would still prefer a lower front (emailed Cannondale to see if there's a replacement for the 25mm headset cone).

However, for £420 delivered to your door, it's never going to be perfect with top quality parts. But I reckon the frame/forks are prime for upgrading if you want, but if not you've still got a decent bike (maybe apart from the brakes).

Sofaking, what is that? Looks nice.

My SS 29er (Jones) is now my >90%-of-the-time ride - use gears for big rides and spend time on work-related projects but when it's my ride-time locally (southern s'tracks), rigid SS is my preference and has been for a few yrs now. 29" wheels make a lot of sense if you're already rigid/SS.

Thanks.

Yep, its the Large or 20" I did worry it may be a bit big for me, 6ft dead and 33" leg, but it feels perfect to ride if a little short on standover height. Got it From Triton Cycles for £259, I think they have some left in Large/Black. It last years model with the canti mounts, but these unscrew and I've got some neat screw in blank plugs for the empty holes.

I've not ridden ANY of my other bikes including a 575 and Lynskey Pro 29 if that gives an idea of how much im loving it. Brilliant bike.

Tomac Flint. My best all round bike (now I've got bouncy forks on it) but when conditions are perfect just not as playful as my 26er. Am I allowed to say that here?

Mr Schmancy currently weighs an extensive 19lbs with those Fat HansDampfs on, but when I built it he weighed an impressive 18.. The only thing I can think of to make him lighter is the cranks, currently XTR's.

I like strong bikes me, I do tend to ride them hard and he's certainly helping me ride hard that's for sure, and I climb over a lot of gates and the like so it's nice to be able to chuck him over in a Cross stylee.

Side on pics soon, after this w/e when he's made my legs burn a bit.
