The blur now has Pike Team Air forks, mint 2007 edition ones in grey. They are soooooooo much better than the Magura's, very smooth and highly tuneable with the motion control system.

Now the weather is thawing abit, are we gonna try and resurrect a 4X ride, maybe over the Chicksands or Aston Hill for the opening of the season?

Oh one other thing I'm making it a personal goal of mine to get a Hammerschmidt system on the 4X, I think it'll be awesome and I'll be even more mental on it with the instant shift and immense ground clearance!

ducky- good idea. I want to go on one of Jedi's courses so could do one day on that and the next on a 4x ride.

Duckman - you need ISCG mounts for HS - something the 4X doesn't have so you may have a job!

Davey - I have a cunning plan, check MTBR.com and look at the Nomad Mark 1 Hammerschmidt thread. I reckon it is possible and I really want to do it.

Hora - how much are those courses?, and which one are you thinking of doing? I was looking at them, and not sure which is ok for me as I can do some of the stuff they teach and am between the beginner and Intermediate classes.

ddmonkey - are you still thinking of selling your frame?

Hi All - yep its a factory orange, not custom. I'm very much up for Aston Hill or Chicksands, was loving the 4x up at Aston a couple of weekends ago before the second dump of snow. It was all frozen, rode the XC track (how hard is that climb ou the back?) and most of the DH runs, very impressed with the bike on the DH's. Thinking of sticking some spikes on getting out this Sunday perhaps...

Has anyone fitted a mud guard to the rear to stop the muck filling up the bottom swing link? I'm thinking a bit of inner tube back there might work, much like the ones you can fit on forks?

And no I'm keeping it. 🙂

ddmonkey good lad!

If you check the SC website there is a V10 rear mudguard that looks like you might be able to attach it to the rear upper seatstay brace with some zip ties. I think it's about £20 or so.

I'm gonna try it and see if it works, it won't be obvious either and should stop the rear lower link seizing up from being clogged with mud.

Honestly dont sell, Ive just mothballed mine for the next two months- switched to a 456 frame as last week I rode in through the worst snow and the salt got into EVERYTHING. I spent alongtime disembling and regreasing etc.

After a shakey start this bike is starting to grow on me... Mini DH bike on the downhills, corners fantastically at speed, excellent techy climber, and now I'm getting it set up better it evens feel quite efficient on the along bits. I'm liking it more and more....

I'll post mine up here tonight! - maybe with a spec and 'for sale' sign hanging on her if I get the right feedback about the canfield can-can.

The one I posted is one of the two prototypes that were produced before the blur 4x made it into production, hence the lack of clearance for anything bigger than a 2.1 tyre at the back, huge gussets and a massive headtube and no provision for any front mech cable routing, and finally the v brake bosses on the rear swingarm. All of these things were changed for production 4x's. This happens to be one of the two prototypes produced and belonged to Nathan Rennie, and can be seen on the fundamentals DVD. The other one was made for Kurt Voreis. It rides well, and I'm in the process of rebuilding it to do what it does best.

Just built, Large, RP3, Coil Pikes, Easton wheels and xt / lx gears.
The pikes are very heavy, think its about 32 lbs, reckon i could get it down to under 30 by changing to revs for longer day rides, but for short blasts its pretty good so far...
