Having just bought one I'm looking for inspiration. I know there's been a few of these threads before, but hopefully there are some new contributions.

Are your forks set at 140mm Vorlich?

I just ordered some 20mm travel reducers for my RLC's, mine looks pretty slack at 140mm.

Nope, mine are 150/120 talas, set to 120 permanently. 150 option in case I buy a Rocket ๐Ÿ˜‰

Im still waiting for parts, it should be finished tomorrow but from experience I would say at 140mm it will handle like a barge.

Whats it like at 140mm Vorlich? Its 68.6 degrees with 25mm sag at 140mm, does that make it roughly 67 degrees static? Not that it matters, I will test it out tomorrow anyway.

There's about 20mm variance in axle-crown heights for a given fork travel - Revs are in the middle, chunkier forks longer, Floats shorter. I love how my Soul handles with Float 140s and I don't run all that much sag. But it depends on how you ride - I get up on the front quite a lot.

But does he run the same static sag, are his bars and stem the same dimensions, is his body position the same, etc? Mind you, when I climb onto most similar style bikes I find myself baffled by their squishy forks, steep head angle, long stems and rearward saddle position so maybe I'm atypical... I think that's one thing that's so great about the Soul - the frame is strong enough and stiff enough and light enough and the geometry so versatile that it builds up as a great XC and almost race bike or a downhill munching big forked full-sus trail bike worrier, or anything in between. Enjoy your new one!

Well his looks built up roughly the same too, I have a 70mm stem and 720mm bars (although his are slightly wider), I don't know how he rides though.

Post a photo of yours up mate.

Mine in current 120mm guise:

In 140mm guise - I found the forks too tall:

Stuck some 20mm 140 Revs on mine and compared to my 100 and then 120mm spaced Rebas found them fine climbing and great on big downhills and in the Alps. However still messing around with the sag, rebound and initial compression for general XC and trail centre use - feels as if the rebound is too quick and its difficult to put weight through the forks on tight corners. Can see me spacing them to down to 120/130 if less rebound and/or more sag does not help. Great fun fine tuning though.

I've never run 140mm, so I'm not sure. Don't concern myself too much with angles etc. Sorry I can't be more help.

FWIW bars are 745 and 50mm stem. Replaced a 70mm stem, much easier to lift the front onto obstacles when climbing now.

Better bike than I am rider.
