I'm tired of lurking in the shadows and admit I am rigid curious. Would love to see some pics of 29ers in action, showing what they can do, paricularly rigids. Shots of your bikes in good locations welcome too.

29er rigid curious too.
I'm guessing at benefits, being low weight and directness. But please can you guys tell me why you love them?
Convince me enough and i'll prob end up getting one next year!
thinking it would be good opposite to my 120mm trail FS....Great for racing on?

That's why I'm getting one (150mm Pitch is my 'opposite').

In reality an 80-100mm FS bike is more comfortable and faster, but a rigid singlespeed can be ridden all winter with f*** all maintenance. In an ideal world I'd buy a anthem-x 29er and to heck with the maintenance cost of riding it through the winter, but it's nice to always have a working bike in the shed.

spoon - yes quite. i'd probably commute on mine also. Using the road bike for commuting all year means it needs more maintenance attention time and cost than i'd like to give it. And always needs something sorting on it before i do a tri
29 er rigid would keep it in tip top condition...swapping to the FS for commuting has started to degrade that now!

I thought that! FREAK :-p

It's odd how different people react to exercise in different ways, I was on the treadmill at the gym last night (and wearing unfortunately short shorts) which is about the only time I spend infront of a mirror. I swear my calves are biger than my quads! That and my left shin is completely and utterly FUBAR'd to look at! Looked like one continuous scar running from knee to ankle.

Not action shots:

[img] [/img]

as it is now with Nate on board:

[img] [/img]

Why rigid? Instant acceleration - direct feel of the handling - feel the trail - you have to improve your bike skills (not that I have many) - you have to put a lot more into the ride, and you get more out of it, you can't hide behind 5" of travel - I went out, recently, on my, not used for 2 years full susser, it's a bit like sex with a - condom - a some impression of what's going on - but none of the FEEL 😀
