i have been offered a Giant NRS XTC full sus team bike from 2005. The bike has loads of upgrades including hope mini brakes, hope hubs, easton carbon bars, seat post, mavic wheels and maz bombers front forks rock shock sid air rear suspension. front and rear mech is shimano XT. The bike appears to have been really well looked after and he wants £400 for it. is that a good deal?
Sounds good, My mate has just paid similar for a standard NRS!!
Another mate rode one of these off of a 10 foot ladder drop off at chicksands, upon landing he scrubbed the back brake which threw him off. Only broke the saddle!! My mate is 16 stone attempting this on a 4" XC full suss! Bit silly I know, but it proved how strong the frame is!!
Check on ebay for similar deals.
Offer £350 for cash in an invitingly "there now" envelope!!
i sold my v brake/ rockshox pilot equipped entry level nrs for 275 a year ago.
I would like another xc full suss giant. Ride nicely.
Yep, they're a great ride.

I'm 16 stone and ride an NRS, I'd want mine to land a 10ft drop too (on a transition, flat landing obviously would snap it in two!).
cheers guys, think i'lll buy it!
No way.
I'd save your cash and buy an Giant Anthem for more money like Pauls cycles.

Hmmm I'm looking at buying a upgraded second hand 400 quid bike (thats known to be good).....no, spend twice the cash and buy a newer bike instead...? Are we just plucking bikes are random now zaskar?
Cracking trail/race bikes I had a 2005 Carbon NRS only problem was it was too small....don't ask.
The Anthem is in theory the NRS replacement, did a stint on a 2008 Carbon Anthem and did'nt like it as much.
But then perhaps I'm just a bit too nostalgic and have fond memories of the Giant team boys and girls on them kicking my butt in the good old days of Sandwell.

No-just my personal opinion, it's his choice what he does as long as he is happy with the bike. It is a nice bike with a nice spec.
It's just if he saves, he can buy something new and the Anthem is great.
Everyone has a choice.
NRS is a nice bike but I'd still save up for a new bike if the 2nd hand was more than 3yrs old and half the price of a new one.
I'd go for the NRS but look to put some lighter/shorter forks on the front sooner or later.
I had some bombers on mine and whilst it was fine it seems a lot happier with the Sids it ahs now (they're a lot shorter for a start)- they just seem to suit it's character more.
Still got my NRS abused it for 5 years and it's still a fantastic Trail/ race bike. Sounds good value to me
