What wheel size and what fork travel? When you say aggressive enduro what do you actually mean - as in what terrain are you riding and what riding style do you have / like a bike to encourage?

Privateer 141 - marginally more travel but definitely covers off ‘aggressive enduro”

Commencal Meta TR29

Bird Aether 9C

Santa Cruz Hightower / Tallboy

The new nuke proof reactor carbon 29er ST, I know that’s full bike but for £4300, you get full fox factory, dt wheels, full XT, 125mm travel with a 130mm fork, I’ve ordered one anyway 👍

YT Izzo? Geometry is fairly similar to the much pricier Spur. But the rear travel you’re after seems to be more common on lighter, trail bikes, ‘down-country’ apparently.

Cotic FlareMax or the new Jeht? I think the FlareMax can handle more than you'd expect it too

Doubt you'll find an "aggressive enduro" bike with that little travel! Too much marketing coolaid? Either depends on what you actually want the bike for. Short travel end I'd look at the Spur, it is way, way more capable than the travel suggests, just don't be fooled into overbuilding it and putting a longer fork and burlier parts on, it's best when it's light AF, mines about 12kg ready to ride. FlareMax and Jeht are other good shouts if you want something a little burlier. Privateer have gone down Transition's route from a few years ago of trying to build trail bikes and frames that weigh as much as DH bike, but they are mega value if you don't mind weight.

Out of interest jonnyrockymountain, when did you order and when do you think this is coming?  I really quite fancy one of these myself so would be good to know....

No mention of the Smuggler?

Seems to be discontinued - perhaps pending a new model - but still available new or used and it's a solid option (pun intended, as they are a bit heavy).

Orange Stage 5 2020 has great geometry and looks like a fantastic do-it-all bike - like the Five of old. Not sure why it's gone from the list of models but it's still on the Orange site if you Google for it.

‘Aggressive Enduro’ - chuckles

Love to know how a bike is ‘aggressive’ does it bark when you go near it.

So...... ‘what short travel 29er bike to ride my local trails’

Yep, under the recommend what you've got 🙂

Flaremax 29 - currently running a Mk2 with a 140 fork and 132 rear plus -2 headset

Brilliant and safe for the steeps - I live in the Tweed Valley, so Golfie, Inners, Thornilee etc

Also, Banshee make some solid shorter travel 29er frames - perhaps just slightly behind the times on the geometry though.

Had a Reactor, didn't think it pedalled all that well and it didn't really go through the bumps all that well. Seat angle isn't all that steep either, which I prefer, so couldn't get comfortable on the uphills.

Now on my third smuggler, this time a Gen2. -1 degree angleset and a 150mm lyrik on the front.

If I was replacing the smuggler, would likely be a stumpjumper. Light and perfect angles.

Smuggler fan here.

Orbea Occam is 140mm front and rear but light and poppy in my opinion, worth considering.

Really liking my Banshee Phantom V3. Bought it as a frame only recently, but only managed a few rides so far.

115mm rear, 130mm front (some go 140mm). I'm 6'2" on an XL frame and the fit feels spot on.

It's very capable, but it will remind you that it's a short travel bike if you get too stupid 🙂

This is worth a watch too.

Sonder Cortex? 1115 with a cane creek shock. Or significantly less on cycle to work.
