Just watched the video on the Hope site about how to shorten the hose, which is fine, I can do that, but, will I need to bleed the brakes afterwards ?
Standard hose btw, not braided.
Ta
if you pump lever a bit with the wheel out ( being careful not to pump the pistons right out) and then shorten at the lever end when you push the pistons back you should push any bubbles into the master cylinder.
However hopes are simple to bleed - its well worth learning to do as you should change the fluid every year or two
I would bleed it. If you're using metal hoses i'd also get a couple of spare olives for when you split the originals trying to get it over the cut hose.
I would definitely bleed them if shortening the hoses. It's not very hard to do if you follow the video guide, just make sure you put an hour or so aside to get it done properly.

I got some spares in in preparation for this, but never needed to use them. If you're careful you can prize the existing ones open and reuse them.
Right then, I guess I'll have to get myself a bleed kit before I go chopping them down.
I've got another set on my other bike, so it'll be useful to have in the workshop.
Thanks for the replies.
Is the bleed procedure / kit the same on Hope's V2 brakes?
I've just got some and the hoses need trimming down.
My neighbour has got some M4's as well so it would be handy to have the right tools.
You don't need a blled kit - just a bit of tubing over the bleed nipple
