Hi,
Will I be able to run a short cage rear mech with a 36t front ring and a 11-34t cassette? Just want to check it'll be the right size for me before I commit to buying 🙂

It's what I used to run on my DH bike(shimano 105) , but it works much better with the 11-25t cassette thats on it now.

so long as the capacity of the mech is greater or equal to 23t then yes you will

Looking at a short cage XT M771 rear mech - I'm not sure if this is really a short cage or just a "GS" one, which Shimano sell as a medium cage?
