Cramming a bit into this one,

My gf has a Heckler with a pushed Fox coil and pikes (coil also) on it and is wanting to drop the weight.

My plan is to swap her pikes for my old Fox 36's that need a service (obviously service them first) is there anything else in the 150mm market that is worth considering new?

The on the rear I was thinking of a Fox RP23 but was also considering getting a pushed one that are only an extra £35 from TF anyone got any experience with these is it worth it?

By my reckoning that should take somewhere between 1-1.5kg off the bike for just under £500. (£370 Shock and £99 for fork + p&p)

Really just wanting to check my thinking was good or hear any alternatives.

What info do you need to supply for pushing? does it matter if you are a little vague on the ride style or does the tune make the shock more specific to a certain style of riding?

I might be wrong here, but the Rp23 is an rp2 that is set up with three pro pedals? if you're getting it pushed for her weight and riding then you wouldn't need the 3 propedal, and so in theory a much cheaper rp2 might do? and use the money to drop weight elsewhere?

the rp3 seems to have been a very short lived products and the 23 has replaced it, its the one that TF offer as pushed there is a Float R not sure if this is a RP2 by another name or not

no the float R is different, the flot r i believe just has a lock out option, the rp2 or 3 have the pro pedal setting, but only have one setting the rp23 has three settings with a light medium and hard, i believe the difference between the rp2 and the rp3 is travel amount, but some one wise will come along soon with a decent answer, just i to me if you had a tuned shock and pro pedal, wouldn't see why you would change it from one to other and i have seen rp2 for less than £100 on here but rp23 seem to go for close to £200 secondhand...

Pushing is worth it imho, and whilst they do ask for riding style, it's more along the lines of freeride vs dh vs xc. The key point is the shock is valved for a specific weight of rider.

sounds good can they do it to a battered 2nd hand shock or is a new shiney one better to use (TF sell them off the shelf tweaked for £35 more)

Float R as supplied on my Prophet only has rebound adjustment.

Had both, a Float R pushed - Significantly better.

and when I changed my frame I also bought a RP23 form TFT pushed (nearly the same price as std one, just as you are talking about)

so I am unable to compare the pre and post pushed RP23, but it is very well behaved and the transition from platform through the travel is hardly noticable. I do only run it on setting three as the pre-set and switch between on and off.

The other difference between the RP23 and either the RP2 or RP3 is that the later 2 don't fully remove the platform, they just reduce it when switched off.

I would highly recommend it.

The fact that they strip service and convert, probably means that either new or "nd hand will be good.

Speak to the Rev Flookes for his opinion.

They can do 2nd hand, but beware if it requires certain parts, they have to send to Mojo as Mojo won't supply them with certain stuff. Both shocks I sent recently for service required new bodies so had to go to Mojo. Not a big issue but adds a bit of time to the process.

I have pushed RP3 after not getting on with the stock RP3 damping. It was a revelation, and I'd not hesitate to get it done on any future shocks I end up with. That said, I've heard that the new RP23 damping is much improved from stock, although I've not had any experience of this. For £35 extra, I'd get it pushed from the outset.

Personally, I hardly ever use the pro pedal adjuster on the RP3 since getting it pushed because I'm happy with the way the shock moves. When I do, its mostly to get the back jacked up a bit since in the max setting the shock doesn't sag as low, and I get an improvement in geometry for climbing.

If I did it all again, I'd just get a pushed float and save the money.
