Does it matter which was round a shock is mounted? I have a cannondale rush frame and to me it seems like the shock is on the wrong way round. The PP lever could be closer with the shock mounted with the lever towards and next to the top tube and also in its current position I would have thought muddy water etc was more likely to ingress into the shock.

Can I mount it the other way or will performance be degraded?

I've turned shocks around in the past and not noticed any detrimental effect.

make sure it won't foul the frame as it moves, then enjoy yourself. The shock is sealed so should be OK if you clean the bike now & then (will the dirt now "settle" on top of the seals ?? - I still doubt it's relevant)

(minor alteration in unsprung weight that will be crucial to your world champs aspirations)
