Looking to buy a new rear brake, as I'm not liking my avid one..
The xt ones are around £65, and the new deore one is about the same price,
What would be the advantage of getting the new one? I think I prefer the lever on the xt.

Cheers

Have a look here:

Looks like some good deals for rear brakes if you fancy the older slx or xt. Both good brakes.

I've used both. I can tell you categorically the new Deore is a much better brake, however the XT is a more solidly constructed piece of kit.

I met some friends of mine out on the trails this week. They work in a couple of different local bike shops. They were raving about the new Deore brakes.

I've just fitted new Deores. They are simply fantastic. I only needed one, but after having it for 3 days, I bought the other.

Excellent.

Look ace too.

I would go with Deore too. The only good brakes Avid make are they V's and cable operated discs. Simple to bleed too for the home mechanic.

Would it be easy to swap the levers over, as they cost £30 in germany.

Apparently it's fairly easy to swap the hoses round, the "PSA xt brakes thread" has a good guide in it, and at that price, it's a no brainer really.

Would they fit avid disc and mounts? And it is £38 for the rear from rosebikes.

They should just bolt straight on to the avid mounts without a problem.

I am doing the same myself. just ordered the xt ones.
Sick of my avid elixar 3.
Squeel like a pig, need aligning every other ride and have cr@p feel.
Cannot wait to be rid of them.

Can I ask, the prices on Rosebikes, (Deore £38, XT £67), is that the complete lever, hose & caliper...?
Seems awfully cheap.

Yes, it is. No rotors or mounts, though.

I smell another 50 page PSA Deore XT @ Rosebikes thread.
