Is it any good? Particularly thinking about xtr trail, but possibly xt. Can it be dialled in / out? Is it any good, or are you in fact better of without? Always liked shimano disc brakes, but not used any with servowave.
I guess, if the truth be told, help me choose between xtr race or trail brakes, I don't think I'll buy the xt ones, I really want xtr ๐
Ohhh - I wish I could afford XTR!
Servowave keeps the pads a mico millimeter futher back from the disk. The lever has a pivot that moves the pad further in the initial pull to overcome this. The effect is like marmite I guess. But the silence is nice. I've got 2 sets of SLX servo brakes (similar to XT but no bite adjust iirc) now after faffing with avids and formulas. The first brakes I've had that just - well just slow me down. No faffing required.
There are probably "better" brakes, more bite, more power etc. But less faffing / squealing / bleeding - I'll take the lazy option!
It is going to be a bit of a treat getting xtr, but I'm a 1 bike man so it's only one set to buy!
Sounds positive so far then. Probably one of those things that works well and even if you don't like it at first (because it's different) you very quikly get used to it and stop noticing.
Sam - If you dont like your XTR's I'll happily sway them for some juicy 7's or oro K24's ๐
Ohh- I've just fitted my first ever bit of xtr - got it as a present - a 9 speed shifter. Now I'm a convert! Crazy thing is I got 2 of them this christmas after years of waiting!
I have servo xt's on 1 bike, slx's on another and Hope Mono Mini's on the full susser. They are all good, but I like the Hope's the best. The xt's are the most powerful if that helps
