[Closed] Shimano MT91s as hiking boots

I'm doing a coast to coast in a couple of weeks, and noticed there are a couple of accessible Munros on the way. I'm looking at the Shimano MT91 as a do-it-all boot for riding and walking, are they any good as walking boots?

The alternative is to take my trail running shoes, but I'd like to minimise my kit where possible. I'd use the boots in the future for winter anyway.

There not bad maybe the sole is a bit hard, prefer proper Walking Boots as mine seem to be more than a little worn after a couple of seasons (admittedly not much stands up to being ripped by brambles regularly). Though I quite happily wear them at any point during the year (if it's raining)

Edit: When they die, I'll bite the bullet and buy some of the shimano MW series boot next. As they seem a better winter cycling boot solution

THey're not as good as proper walking boots and not as good as proper cycling shoes/boots IMO.

Problem with some of these Goretex winter boots is they are fcek all use at keeping water from entering over the cuff. As they also have a goretex liner the water then cant get out.

Take a look at the Lake product line - they do spd shoes with Vibram soles. I think their winter boots are probably far more effective at keeping the water out at the cuff

I have the MT90's and I'd say they're (just about) OK for walking in - I've done a couple of Munros in them. I'd not be wanting to tackle anything too "technical" as they inevitably lack grip in the centre of the sole.

As look as you accept that they are a compromise - go for it!

Good compromise, but I won't be buying another pair after trying the MW's either.

Fine for walking in, if you have/need to.
