What do all the numbers mean after the model name? eg.XT M772 vs XT M771 rear mech?
Is it a newer model, or a better model or just a 'variant'(silver vs black)?
I'm looking to "upgrade" my old worn out XTR mech for a new XT one (can't warrant spending so much more for the XTR one 😐 )

M770:
M - Mountainbike
7 - Range, in this case XT.
7 - Vintage, in this case the 7th update of XT.
2 - Sub-model, in this case a shadow mech.
M770 is the rapid rise mech.
M771 is the standard rise mech.
