[Closed] Shimano HBM-765 and M 756 - freehubs swappable

they have different part numbers and one hub is a centrelock and the other 6 bolt but was just wondering...

I'm eyeing up the cheap shimano 765's as donors for my 756...

No....I think, can't be bothered to look up the part numbers but the latest XT rear hubs use a different sized freehub (and freehub bolt) than the previous versions. Oh and they are rubbish, I get years/lotsofmiles out of shimano hubs normally, the FH on my XT wheelset died after only a few hundred miles, others have had problems too.

Yes this has come up a few times, I [i]think[/i] it's the most recent xt hubs, apparently they last about 10 minutes and fit in a different way.

Donk you are thinking of M770 / M775 if you have the bigger freehub body bolt.

I did have a search on but didn't turn up anythign conclusive other than 'the part numbers aren't the same.

will look at the crc 36 hole ones as donors then...

Damn sorry yeah you are of course right. So 765 and 755 should be swappable afaik.

I don't think they are actually. I have a recollection of there being a fitting issue.
