I've been running an M525 hub for 4 years with no apparent problems. On Sunday's slightly muddy ride, I noticed that the ticking sound you get when back-pedalling was replaced by more of a rubbing/grinding sound. Chain routing, jockeys and cassette all seem okay and it's still engaging alright when pedalling normally but am I looking at replacing the freehub body or something? All wisdom gratefully received!

Sounds like the early warning signs of a dying freehub body, may go on for months or die on the next ride in the middle of nowhere. I'd suggest buying a non-disc equivalent hub(M530 i think)to rob for the parts, only cost about £5 more and you get new cones, axle, bearings and a skewer to sell on as a bonus.
