Popped into my local Evans to get some new spd cleats.

Bit surprised to find they are £20 now!

I was sure I paid around £13 recently, so checked their website. Seems they have exactly the same cleats online under clearance for £13 and others for £20.

Going to drop them an email, but in the meantime anyone know why the price of these would suddenly almost double? Seems like a massive rip off really...

Seen the state of the pound recently?

edit : Ah, spd-sl. They've had an rrp of £19.99 for a long time.

List price of both is £19.99.

The clearance ones are marked OE so will not come with the regular packaging.

Order the cheap ones for pick up in store

Brexit amongst other things 😉
Exchange rates, all Shimano prices shot up last year.
My lbs will price match online to as near as possible and still try to make a living. They(others may also have)have a "deal" with Shimano importer whereby they can reclaim discounts apparently.
When I say lbs it is a shop my family have frequented for over 50yrs 😀

Evans price match. If you'd told them you could get them at Wiggle cheaper you'd have them fitted by now.

Didn't have my phone on me at the time to check, sadly.

[quote=belugabob ]Or, just buy a pair of 520 pedals for £20, and get the cleats for free.
Sell the pedals and count the profit.

Ah, takes me back to supplying a load of pedals for a batch of exercise machines.

I ended up with a box of 100 sets of multi release Shimano cleats that they didn't want or need - kerching 😀
