Are there any good looking alternatives. They are stupidly expensive at nearly £100 for the outer. By the time I need a large and small I might as well buy a new chainset!

No but I know a few places that stock Stronglight (spa/sjs so might be able to source elsewhere. Stronglight we my go to for CX rings of wierd sizes on 5 bolt so good to know they make them.
