Shimano Brakes – Plastic Piston Guides Cracked

Hi All,

I raised this question before and big thanks to peanutcracknell

I have a set of M8000 Brakes and the right hand brake lever no longer works due to the plastic piston guides cracking. I have tried repairing it (superglue) but it doesn't last.

Broken Piston Guide

Broken Parts

I have seen people advising to 3D printing them but not owning a 3D printer I'm not sure if they are fragile /strong / Smooth enough and I don’t know whether to trust my front teeth when I grab a fist fall of brake.

I haven’t seen many recent posts, does anyone have any further information on this, or real world experience with a 3D printed version – what’s the longevity been like ?

Worst case, who has a Right Hand broken lever (likely from the M7000/M7100/M8000/M81000/M9000/M9100 series) they would like to sell/donate parts from ??

Thanks in advance...

1 month in and still no possibility of repair.

Why not just buy a new lever, they're £40ish Life is too short to spend time worrying about the little things.
Unless of course you like worrying about the little things.

I've already purchased a new lever 😉  but I donate all my old stuff to a local bike club for disadvantage people and seems a waste to throw away the lever for a few pence worth of parts.

Obviously I don't want to give them broken or not safe parts.
