Are there any decent value tools for newer Shimano xt mt500 bottom brackets, those plastic ones are rubbish for removing anything remotely been left in over winter , just stripped both I had.

if it's for a knackered one use the Harry Main method.

..and don't forget the anti-seize on the threads (or a little grease if you don't have any). May be obvious, but surprising how many people don't..

Well that is an issue.  my one says M093 on the side and it fits bbs that would need the horrible plastic thing with a standard HTII tool.  Assuming Shamano just do the two sizes for mainstream bits, that would be it.  It has 16 teeth and is 40.7mm  internal diameter (on the smooth bit).

I use the Shimano steel socket tools, Park do alloy ones;

Shimano TL-FC37 BBR60, MT800 etc 6 notch 41mm OD cups or Park BBT-59.2

Shimano TL-FC34 Dura Ace 9000, XTR BB 93 etc 16-notch 39mm OD cups or Park BBT-49.2

Thats for the 2 "new" smaller hollowtech BBs
