Daft question but... on XT M770 right hand shifters, does the bottom level shift the gear up (harder pedalling) or down?
Did Shimano swap this on rapidfire shifters one year?

inputting the words "rapid rise" & "shimano" in the wonderful world of google might help - in the meantime shifters haven't changed but some rear mechs are sprung release to big cog (rapid rise) & some sprung release to small cog (normal)
