So I've gone and entered the 1t round of the Crank-it series at Sherwood Pines and, well, erm, I've never been.
What can I expect in terms of terrain, ground / trail make-up and obstacles etc?
If it is in Sherwood Pines the place next to Center Parcs then there isn't a huge amount of heigh gain/loss, but there are a couple of sections of undulations with ups and downs. I quite like the place but then I'm only there when the family holiday is on and I consider it an escape for a couple of hours, so suspect my preferences at the time aren't too high.
A nice place for a play on the bikes.
Ditto, plus puddly but not claggy when wet.
Piece of cake, nothing challenging apart from one section with skull and crossbones that you just need to commit to but worth just seeing it first to work out your line
29er hardtail with a dropper is all you need.
There's one but called donkey or something like that with a bit of a blind drop but only about 30cm. Other than that the rest is basically berms and nice flowing trails.
Have fun!
XC races have been held there for 30ish years and there's a gravel event coming up there soon. Fear not, it's no 'ard rock.
It's fun and fast, pretty tame in terms of 'trail centres', races well though.
Nothing tech. for sure, but it's a 90min XC race. Are you ready for max effort for that long?
It's local to me, but there's no way I'm fit enough.
APF
I've just done an enjoyable ride of the red plus downhill bit on a single speed gravel bike* - that should be quite indicative of the terrain.
*I avoided the rock garden bit tbf
