I'm fitting some new forks, anyone in the Chelt/Glos area got a Star Fangled Nut whacker-inner tool that I can borrow?
If you've got a crown race smacker-downer that would be cool too.
Biscuits of choice can be supplied in return ๐
20mm copper plumbing pipe and a mallet - what else is there to "need"?
screw the headset bolt into the SFN and **** that into the headset ๐
If you're worried you'll bash it in squint, try this... Get a bit of threaded M6 bar (or a really long bolt, I use some random bolt out of a motorbike engine) and find an M6 washer about the same size as the inside of the steerer. (make sure it can fit through the bottom, some steerers narrow). Then, thread the bolt/bar through the SFN so it sticks out the top by enough to hammer on, and drop the bar with the washer into the steerer. Et voila, hammer in, impossible to get it squint.
these are a much more elegant solution and are whack free;

๐ They're not complicated. Have them on all my forks...never had a problem

ID on some steerers is too narrow...
ID on some steerers is too big...
I've tried them on a couple of frame / fork combos and found them to be a PITA
Drop your forks into cc and i'll do it whilst you wait.
Raises the question, would you lend an impact tool to someone who called them whacker-inner and smacker-downer? ๐
Cheers Goz. I've just got a cheap Hed Doctor from the classifieds, but would you mind putting the crown race on?
If so, what would sirs choice of biscuit be? ๐

I'm sorry, am I confusing you with these technical terms? ๐
Bribery and corruption will get you everywhere ๐
I,ve a liking for the good old custard creams, bring the forks in anytime you like.
Reminds me of the Halfords mechanicl when I was a kid who called the front mech a "double clanger".
