[Closed] Servicing a FS frame (Trek Remedy specifically)

I'm new to FS bikes, having spent the last 20 years servicing and maintaining my HTs. I've now added a Trek Remedy to the "collection" but don't have a clue what I need to do to service, lube and check the pivots.

They all seem to be held together with some funny looking aluminium nuts which makes me a little reluctant to experiment in case I over-tighten or try to unscrew something with a LH thread and strip something expensive! They do have the torque's on which is nice, but what servicing do I need to do regularly and if I do venture to disassemble it, what will I find inside each pivot?

Cheers!

there is this guy on here kaesae i think his name is, apparently he knows a lot about this subject..

on a more serious note, is there anything online..user guides service guides etc, generally speaking my fs bikes (epic/heckler/kona/dh bikes) have all been generally maintenance free and repair by replacement bearings once every 18months or so. as long as everything is cleaned it should last..<awaits mass stw flaming>

LOL@ Kaesae

I had a look online and couldn't find any service manuals (like I have found from SRAM for the forks), the only thing I could find from Trek was a muppet/user guide.

Thanks ooOOoo, that's a good thread for reference, certainly doesn't look like rocket science.

hi there, i have a remedy myself,. a 7, 09 model. its a piece of p!ss to service the frame. dont be scared, just lay everything out as it comes off in the order it comes off. i eased out the bearing seals with a pin or needle. when i did it ( after about 8 months of riding), the minimal amount of grease was clean still so i just pumped some more in and popped the seals back in, cleaned all the bolts etc up and put it all back together. have ago, you'll be right!
