[#11259455]

On a Deore M6000 mech. It’s on Mini’s Orbea. Half an hour of jumping off his ramp and kerbs or 150m of Cannock's cobbles and it’s off. I have tried tightening the clutch, loosening the clutch and different size chain rings. My SLX M675 and XT M8000 mechs have never done this, not even once. It is out of warranty.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix?

Bump.

Google wasn't much help, i'm guessing not very common.

I had the same issue with an XT M8000. I found the lever had become misaligned on the rectangular shaft. As a result it wasn’t rotating fully enough to ‘click’ on to the flat part of the cam, which holds it in the right location and not disengage through vibration.

Now you mention it there is a definite point of engagement on my XT mech but not on the Deore.

Did you manage to fix it?

Chain too short? My mates xt was doing this the other day. He'd just put a new chain on and stupidly made it one whole link short. He was puzzled why the clutch lever kept slipping off, until I suggested the short chain stretching the mech too far.

I did think about that, set for 32t ring checked out fine and then with a 30t it still turns itself off.

Yes, you just need to turn it with some pliers so it moves on to the flat-spot of the clutch cam before the lever is all the way back.

Thanks for the reply Akers, do you mean turn the lever with players or the actual cultch mechanism under the removable cover?

with the clutch cover off and the mechanism disassembled, I just held the grey lever in position and gently rotated the rectangular lever shaft a small amount to correct its position when the cam assembly is refitted.

Hope that description makes sense!

Looking at it now, the small shaft inside the circular part which is clamped by the tightening band?

There is a definite disengagement now.

I have had another fiddle and I think you mean the part that the tightening screw screws into. That seemed fine, however when I loosened everything a elongated circlip fell from the far side of the clutch barrel. Once disassembled I greased everything and refitted the circlip. There is a faint feel of engagement but nothing like my XT mech. It all works so I will let Mini test it for a few days and report back.

I meant the rectangular shaft the clutch lever is on. The cam that actuates the clutch sits on it.

That’s what I thought you meant first. I can’t seem to move it freely of the grey lever.

Edit - refitting the circlip May have done the job.

Thanks
