So, after Sunday's slightly damp ride, my WI freewheel has seized up.
Any suggestions for unfreezing?
Other than the usual snide remarks from people with gears, which I'll take as read.
Take it off and send to sideways cycles!
Strip it and regrease it. Probably got some ice in there. I think the instructions are on the WI site.
Stripping down it is then.
How about a snide remark from a SSer? ๐
get a wheel with a proper freehub which are much
more reliable.
Unscrew the lock ring. (the coloured bit)
Pull the outer ring off. ( the bit with the teeth on)
You'll then be able to see the bearing.
Pull the outer seal off and clean it out and re pack with grease.
Or if it's too ****ed take it to your local bearing supplier and get a new one.

Suggestions?
Pretty much any normal wheel!
I just don't see the point in screw on ss hubs.
Is grease appropriate for freewheels? I always use light oil.
Normal wheel is a possibility I guess (although the Deore freewheels seem to need replacing fairly often as well).
But then my wheel won't be nice and dished properly - there will be that great big ugly freewheel sticking out on one side.
I'm going to try singlespeedstu's suggestion first off (need to get a pin spanner first though).
So it's all about the cosmetic? Serves you right then ๐
those WI freewheels don't seem particularly robust. I've been riding with people twice when they've jammed.
Just use some circlip pliers or even a centerpunch and hammer if you're carefull.
Or if you go for a new hub may a recomend one of these. ๐

Oh and if you're really that bothered you can get nice sprocket spacers from velosolo and the like.
WI freewheels are ace. The only one I ever had go on me was one I bought 2nd hand off here and that was repaired by WI free of charge.
