Hi guys was wondering what people use for security on their bikes
things like security skewers etc.I present have kryptonite cable that locks around the wheels onto the frame and a small cable lock for the saddle to the frame
and a kryptonite evolution 4 for the frame to whatever I am securing the bike to.The only issue is the weight of this stuff, was wondering what other guys use, when they walk away from the bike for a short period.

...not much help to the casual cyclist, but my security arrangements for my bikes involve being locked, inside my house at all times together with a trained attack-Komodo dragon..
At work-D lock and cable in a locked compound.
At home-bike insurance.

security skewers - far less hassle than feeding a cable through your wheels everytime, just fit and forget. means you don't have to carry a cable with you as well.
for the frame i use a mini d-lock. this makes it lighter and not as bulky, but it also produces a really tight fit between your bike and a lamp post, meaning there is no space to fit a leverage tool in to defeat the d-lock.
in my opinion this is the best combination!
Out of interest, which locks are coming out best according to current thinking/ tests?
I've got a big Magnum D-lock, thick cable (came with the D-lock) to catch both wheels, small Kryptonite saddle saver cable and a small coil lock just in case. It is a pretty heavy setup and only use it when I cycle to gym or uni. I'm the only one who cycles to work, keep the bike in the lockers room unlocked. Works fine, also have the frame taped up with some black tape to cover logos etc and I only use my road bike so doesn't attract thieves as much as a mtb with disc brakes etc. Used to have a 6kg massive motorcycle chain but it weighted a ton and was slowing me down too much so gave it to a mate and he used it for his scooter ๐ Wouldn't want to leave my bike locked in a public place for longer than 3-4 hours though.
Thick magnum cable lock. Bolt on skewers. Finally by far the best deterrent... the bike looks cr*ppy. Hard to do if you are a bike-head, though.

hmmm, not guard dogs.. you need an alsation or doberman,.
Ground anchor and chain from Pragmasis. Pretty expensive but guaranteed unbolt cropable. There was a test recently in WMB and it was the best chain on test, took two grinding discs to get through a link.
At home Dobermann - plus bikes are locked to the wall.
At work D lock, small cable lock and just bought an alarm lock.
