Used up the last of my standard Stan's tonight re-tubelessing a tyre repair following a 2in nail that went through it on my commute into work this morning.
Been reading a bit about the Stan's Race ... Is it really significantly better than the standard? More hassle? Goes off quicker?
Anything else to consider instead?

Used to swear by Stans - everything else I tried seemed to dry out far too quick - until last summer in the Alps when I was switched onto Tyre Yogurt.
Shameless plug for a friend's venture maybe, but all our tubeless wheelsets chez Tyred are using it now - because it's not latex-based it doesn't dry out. Cool story behind it too.
Happy with Stans, used it for years.
Tried Cafe Latex and wasn’t impressed.
Stans Race was helpful sealing a pair of skin wall tyres that weren’t intended as tubeless but gummed valves (despite not being filled via them) and dried out really fast so I went back to std when the bottle ran out.
I went for Orange Seal Endurance last time and seems to last longer than Stans before drying up.
Can't really comment on it's puncture sealing abilities and can't say I've noticed having one in the last 5 - 6 years whichever sealant I've been using.
I’ve never had Stan’s work whereas the Bontrager stuff is ace.
Dont know if it’s because I use Bontrager tyres.
Stans has given me no reason to look elsewhere. Race maybe if it was free and I changed it a lot.
I’ve never had a problem with Stans so haven’t tried anything else.

I went from Stans to Stans Race and havent noticed a difference, I havent had issues with sealant drying out. The only annoying thing I find is that with OG Stans, I could inject it via the valve core, the race Stans has bigger bits and wont go through the syringe so I need to pop the bead.
Perfectly happy with regular Stan's.
Stans Races has been fine for me and its what I'll use next time. The only downsides are that its not cheap and you cannot put it in through the valve.
You get little fury stanimals with race rather than funny snowflake things.
Stans is fine and lasts an acceptable length of time. Stans race is properly good though for what it's designed for - ie max hole and tyre sealing and sod the length of time it needs to last. If you are in a muddy field doing a tyre swap with minutes to go before your race, you want the stans race. Stans race also seems to seal up bigger holes - holes that would otherwise need a small plug/anchiovy. Other than that, regular stans is fine and makes fewer stanimals.
I've been using Orange Endurance with no problems so far. Have run out though so need to buy something to replace it.
Has anyone used the Muc-off sealant?

The squirt stuff is good, I've been using it for a while and I've got no issues to report.
I've used the Bontrager stuff and it's good, but have had issues with it sealing larger (but not huge) holes. Using Peaty's sealant and apart from the damn glitter that gets everywhere, I've been pleased with it. It leaves a thick coat and seems to stop leaks quite effectively, and lasts well. I find I need more than it says on the bottle.
Never had any issues with Stans in about fifteen years. Changed to muc-off purely because it’s British and bio degradable. Really happy with it. Looks and smells good to. Seems to coat the tyre better when you first put it in too.
I've used Stans (normal) and Orange Seal, and of the two I felt the Orange Seal sealed stuff up better/quicker.
But Stans (normal) is fine, and does work too.

Juice lubes sealant is rubbish.
I like Stans though I do use the Race version on a rear Nobby Nic which sweats a lot with the regular Stans. I also top it up every 3 months through the valve with no issue.

Was using Stans but using Squirt now without any issues
Stan's has always weeped out the sidewalls and dried up and solidified leaving a big rubbery turd rattling around the tyre (Maxxis).
Got some Cafe Latex for a good price on amazon. 16€/1ltr. No more weeping. Sealed up a few big holes the other week at Garda plus two big ones with the help of a worm.
I stitched from Stans to cafe latex due to it keeping splitting in to a river pool at the bottom of my tyres.
No one on here came up with a definitive reason why and doing everything by the book it happened in 2 tyres. Was an anxious pig to get out of the tyres. Took an absolute age!
Got totally pee'd of with it and switched to cafe latex and no more issues since.
Was (is??) Cheaper than stans too.

Orange seal for me, used stans for years but swapped over this summer. Sealed straight away a nasty hole in a tyre that stans refused to seal and sealed a bunch of smaller cuts since.
Doesn't last quite as well as Stan's but I still seem to get 3-5 months out before it dries up dependent on the temperature
Stan's warn you that the Race version doesn't seal over 40 psi, it will gum up your injector and your valves. Magic Milk Hi-Fibre from Planet-X doesn't have those problems.

Concur, Finishline is rubbish. Turned into a blue gel in my tyres and didn't seal a tiny hole until I added some more sealant. Binned the lot and moved back to Orange Seal Endurance which I've been using for years and has sealed numerous holes.
I have always used the planet x stuff, £12 ish for a litre and never given me any issues.

It’s so strange - it’s like someone has stolen the sealant and painted the inside of my tyre a vivid royal blue!
I've always used Stan's because I know it works.
I've just taken a gamble on Joe's Super Sealant, it looks to have more rubber matter in it. My mate rates it and he's tried a few.

Normal stans + glitter. Even sealed up my original Conti Barons, the most unsealable tyres in the world.
Hey there. I actually created Tyre Yogurt sealant in Morzine over 2 years ago, from the frustrations I experienced with other sealants.
It is similar to Finish Line in that it forms a physical seal and thats about as far as the comparison goes because all of the feedback from testing and riding all over the world is very positive in TY's ability to seal holes. Having tested many sealants against TY and butchered 100s of tyres in the lab here are my findings on different sealants.
Most have liquid latex in them. If you have a non tubeless tyre that you want to set up as tubeless you really want to use a latex based product as the tyre side wall will be porous and the bead to rim interface will be pretty rubbish. Therefore you need a glue like liquid ( latex ) to dry in all these imperfections to create a seal.
Latex sealants have been around for ages and they do a good job at sealing holes. However liquid latex on it's own will only seal very small pin pricks. For bigger holes you need the rubber chunks / rubber crumb to mix with the liquid. Stans oridinal has small rubber crumb, Stans Race has rubber crumb and hairs and Orange seal race has loads of rubber crumb of different sizes. This is where you may have issues as all Latex sealants separate over time, hence why it says "shake vigorously" on the side of every bottle. This separation in your tyre may result in relatively small holes not sealing well out on the trails - it is for this reason that I developed TY.
Also, as latex based sealants function by drying / curing to seal holes, eventually they will dry up and this is made worse if the liquid and crumb have separated.
If you have a true tubeless set up with good valves and a decent tape job then you do not necessarily need a "glue in a bottle" ie latex based sealant, you want a sealant that it going to do a great job of sealing holes and cuts as you have no dodgy beads and porous side walls to worry about - this is where Tyre Yogurt excels as the fibres and rubber particles are held permanently in suspension and will not separate. Because it has no latex it will not dry out, however as you collect and seal micro punctures on every ride eventually the sealant will be used up so it may appear that it has started to dry when in reality it has sealed hundreds of small punctures.
The reality is that, like all parts/products for your bike, if you are happy with something and it has not let you down then there's no need to swap or change for something else. However if you have experienced issues and short comings then it's time to look around at the options available. Tyre Yogurt is an option that seals punctures very well, it just does it in a different way and if anyone has any questions about it then please feel free to email me info@tybikeproducts.com. Stan's original patent said cornmeal (polenta) not rubber crumb. I tried rubber crumb (marketed for model railway enthusiasts, good for simulating foliage etc.) in my home-brew and it appeared to encourage bogies. At least, all of it seemed to have ended up in the bogie when I changed it. So I am back with a medium/fine cornmeal mix, which doesn't do this so much. Whether it adds anything to plain latex is another matter. While you are raiding the larder, some turmeric or paprika adds colour, a pinch of fenugreek kind of disguises the ammonia smell.
Stopped using any sealant including Stans that comes in a black plastic bottle as not recyclable here. On Cafe Latex which is fine and bottle fully recyclable👍.

I've had mixed results with Stans and Orange Endurance.
The latter seemed to dry out in weeks, and Stans only seems to work for me about 50% of the time.
Going to give that Tyre Yoghurt a go when this bottle of Stans runs out. Bonus that they're a local company too!
Sealant is pretty expensive though!
