So just spent a few days camping and walking between South Harting(ish) to Bignor and then Steyning. Very taken with it so want to pop back next week or 2 and spend a couple of days cycling.

But - want it to be pleasurable, not an epic to do it all! And will camp close by (campsite), cycle a loop for the day, back to the van and then move along a wee bit, camp up again, another loop.

So any recommendations of particularly nice spots along the SDW where i can ride the actual SDW and then have a reasonable return leg to the van?

Cheers

Cadence cycles have a cafe and campsite pretty much on the way at Upwaltham. Also good access from places like Chichester, Arundel. Amberley (Obviously recommending the places I know!). Also QECP is on the SDW so can have a play on some trail center stuff.

The other (west) side of Harting is a nice stretch. Look at the area around the Sustainability Centre in the Meon Valley, which is just the other side of Butser Hill from Harting. QECP is rideable from there and you can go the opposite direction towards some Roman ruins. Loops are possible but climbs are inevitable.

Stoneywish camping in Ditchling is well located. You have a number of options to get up to the ridge and SDW, and from there you can do loops or out and backs along the SDW (Kingston Ridge and Firle Beacon; Devil's Dyke and Truleigh Hill). You are also close to Stanmer Woods for lots of fun rooty singletrack off the main paths.
