Cleaning the bike last night and noticed some tiny scratches on the back of both stanchions, not gouges but you can feel them.
Bike hasn't been crashed (yet), always careful what it is leant against and it's stored only where I can get to it.
Can't work out how they've got there, as I said they are on the back and have a mucky nutz fitted so would have thought this would have stopped anything being flicked up from behind. Two are horizontal(ish) so I'm not convinced it's crap in the seals.
Just leave them be or should I have them serviced to be safe?
I would drop the lowers off and have a look at the seals etc, they have very little oil in
Do RS expect you to nosey around inside or will fishers just poke me in the eye and say it's my fault for mauling with them?
Don't really want to touch them until I've been told it's poss warranty/foxtrot oscar.
Don't fancy leaving them as they are as they will be a magnet for crap.
Depending how long you have had the forks, and without seeing the problem it's really hard to give an opinion.
If you are capable with tools then it's an easy job to drop the lowers. Maybe not the best time for the first time, or to try it out if you're not sure.
Scratches are unlikely to be a manufacturing problem, which means they likely occurred sometime between leaving the factory and now. Trouble is you can't prove they have been there any earlier than now.
Do a bit of research, see if anyone else has posted about the same problem. Talk to the dealer if you feel there is a case to argue.
Otherwise some very careful sharp blade use and polishing can reduce the edges of the scratches, again not a job if you are unsure.
Good luck.
Can you photo them?
Do you store your bike flat in the car/wheel off and with the wheel placed ontop or other item?
I.e spokes or bag etc caused

That's over stating things a bit.
This is one of the biggest sources of mtb paranoia.
Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.
Bike hasn't been on the carrier (591 over the bed of a pickup) since I fitted the pikes as I only usually ride local stuff due to time/work etc, bike is stored in the spare room on an Andy stand type affair.

Whilst I agree they won't attract dirt, I can pretty much guarantee the scratches will at some point help carry crap past the seals.
Whether it will do any more harm than them not being there I don't know but will have them checked out to be safe.
I don't mind pulling them apart just would prefer someone who has more experience of them to have a look.
