[#13028432]

Heading home from Cairngorms tomorrow and wondering if we can stop off somewhere on route.

My 8 year old loved the Wolf Cub Trail at Laggan so we need something similar.

Glentress has a green so that's a maybe. Anywhere else?

Definitely not ready for blue yet.

If he loved the green at Laggan then other than the length he'll be fine on a lot of the Scottish blues. Glentrool, Mabie and Ae are all straightforward and generally a lot wider than Laggan. The green at Ae is a nice ride up by a river but barely mountain biking.

Surely it depends on the blue? At this years Duncfest we had a few of the kids with us and did the blue at Glentrool. You'd have no issues with an 8 year old. Its all rollable fireroad and singletrack. No jumps or drops or anything. We had a great day there. Its a really good run, just an up and then down. I think its only 6 miles for the full loop so not too tiring for the little'uns. It was really quiet too and theres a nice cafe at the car park

Thanks guys. Mabie looks good. I'm being very cautious, we have made great progress this week and I don't want to spoil it. She is also only on a Frog hybrid.

I was going to say Ae green, but as said above, its just a single fireroad type trail, though the blue isnt too difficult, just a few more climbs. Green is 5.6 miles, blue is 8.4 miles, marketed as "suitable for families looking to take in a little bit more of the forest", so, maybe suitable?

Callender trails at Falkirk are perfect for little ones. Blue and green trails are very similar, you can do the green, have a break/food and then do the blue. Small skills area and cafe at the car park or there's the milk barn nearby for excellent ice cream.

Also shoulda said they are mostly single-track from memory although I've not been for ages.

Both my boys liked calender woods. They're 5 and 2.5. Admittedly the 2.5 year old spent half of it riding shotgun.

Not on the Green or Blue but there are a few trees down on the Naturist...

I wouldn't recommend taking young kids down the Naturist. Shame it's out of use right now, that's my favourite trail there.

must be approaching 90% singletrack each (new section being built on the green recently too, not sure if it’s open yet though), so you’re not wrong. Great wee trails

Aye, sorry, I wasn't suggesting they go down the Naturist, was just flagging trees are down.

The trees are a decent size and hung up so the volunteers won't be able to remove them.

Ok cheers, plugged into Google Maps and it looks like Calandar won't add much to the journey.

The Callendar Estate trails are near Falkirk. They're not near the town of Callander.

Yeah, do a Google maps route to Greenrig Cycles, Falkirk. That'll take you right to the car park.

We went to Callendar Woods and it worked really well. 2 laps of the green and she gave it the same score as Laggan so that's a result.

Yes I figured it wasn't the other Callandar.

Thanks for the help.
