Have had a search but can;t seem to find the post that someone put up with some details on a multi-day offroad tour in scotland ? I'm in the UK for a few weeks in Aug and need to put some miles in to train for a race a couple of months after (Abu Dhabi adv race) so was going to take some gear and do 4-5 says riding with occasional bivvy stops. Experienced outdoors person not afraid to get very out of the way and will be riding big days!
General locations and routes would be good as I've got maps availble to me for all of Scotland ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have a route I did last may if you are interested - more off road touring than real mountainbiking as it was virtually all doubletrack but some fantastic areas. Callender/ bridge of orchy/killochleven/laggan/ kinlochrannoch. Opportunities for a doing the devils staircase / blackwater dam en route and Laggan wolftrax.

Cheers druidh ๐Ÿ™‚

NzCol, if it was my posts you're thinking of (trailers, mud, lots of photos etc) then they got lost when the forum was hacked.

I kept a copy of the first one, but it wasn't as good a trip as TJ's above, and would probably only take you three days or so if you were travelling light and fast.

I've got a route planned, although probably for next year now, that goes along the lines below:

Glen Finnan to Glen More
Glen More to Bearnas bothy (near Achnashellach)
Through Torridon to Craigs
Craigs to the Foot of An Tealach
Climb An Tealach, ride to Corrieshalloch gorge
Corrieshalloch to Stac Pollaidh
Stac Pollaidh along the "Wee Mad Road of Sutherland"
Walking Suilven and Canisp
Suilven to Eas a Chual Aluinn - Kylesku - Ardmore
Ardmore - Cape Wrath - Kearvaig bothy
Kearvaig Bothy - Glen Golly
Glen Golly - Bein Laoghal
Bein Laoghal - Carbisdale

It worked out at about 600km give or take, but i'd planned lots of daft diversions for the sake of seeing waterfalls etc. Also, while these are almost all trails marked on maps, there's no guarantee they're all rideable, as mssrs tandemjeremy and druidh have advised me! I can send you a .mmo or .gpx file if you like.

Not on the scale of 13thfloorfella's route but I've got a three dayer that's basically Blair Athol - Loch Morlich - Braemar - Blair Athol. It's not 'my' route, I took it from the offroad-adventures website that seems to have disappeared recently. Did it last year and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Happy to provide .gpx, .trl or .pdf info to anyone who emails me (PDFs are big though ~20MB in total)

TJ - thanks for your suggestion you never know I might just do them all as I do enjoy very long days in the saddle !
