What route? Ullapool to Bonar bridge is good - and doable in a day

union canal is a good easy route, no climbs to speak of, and doable on a hybrid, or road bike with touring type tyres.
check it out on google earth.
you will need lights, there are a couple of tunnels to go through.

Glenelg to Glen Garry
Glen Garry to Fort Augustas
Fort Augustas to Kingussie
Kingussie to Tomintoul
Tomintoul to Ballater
Ballater to Edzell
Edezell to Montrose
