Anyone willing to sing the praises of the Rock Razor, specifically the Snakeskin flavour? Summer is here officially, and I'm feeling like the double Hans Dampf combo is a bit much. So, has anyone got any real world experience of the RR, would be pairing it with either a Hans Dampf or a Magic Mary....though not sure yet.

Im planning on doing the same. Mm or hd up front with the rr out back. My mate ran this combo last year and he's a bloody good rider and much faster than me so this is good enough reason for me :-). Been running mm front and back through winter and previously hd front and back but fancy something less draggy this summer

Use this combination on my Alps bike, good for climbing but need a little care on braking on loose stuff as minimal grip when up right. But I really liked them last year, so much easier on the ups.

Going to go with the Specialized Slaughter combo instead, cheaper, just as good, last longer. The thing with semi slicks is they don't last as long, being 20 quid cheaper is a big plus.

The Specialized guys have been running them with 30mm ID rims as well, so they're well suited to wide rims.

Rock Razors are £28 on bike-discount.de, how much are we talking for the Spesh ones?

Rode the Super Gravity one for 8 weeks of a Lake District winter, loved it. Pros - really fast for such a big tire, corners well too and no problems with grip on climbs unless they were soft mud (it's all rock/grass here). Cons - almost no straight-line braking grip (you have to rely on the front for that, which is fine once you're used to it), and after 8 weeks (25 rides)it had no tread left at all, all torn off 🙁
Now riding the Snakeskin RR on my hardtail, tread life is much better (it's Pacestar compound, the SG was Trailstar). Still as fast and remarkably grippy on climbs, just more prone to pinches than the SG one, so suited to a gentler rider (running a DH tube in mine).
Paired mine with Hans Dampfs, Magic Mary's, Rubber Queens, Minions etc.

The decent rock razor from bike discount appears to be 30 quid.

23 quid...think that's the single compound though.

EDIT: No dual compound

How do they compare with a Maxxis Larsen? I used to run one on the back indiscriminately throughout the "summer" months. I'd imagine the side knobs are the biggest, and most useful, difference.
