How good are the newer pacestar compound ones? I had a pair of 2010 all grounders I didn't get on with, but I'm thinking of trying the newer pacestar tubeless ones? Not the tlr ones but out and out tubeless ust ones....compound appears to be the same on them anyways

Just wondered if they roll well, good in light mud duties, generally all round? I had a set of 09 ones that i loved, replaced with the allgrounder 2010 ones disliked and haven't tried the 2011/12 ones...

Any help on how they perform appreciated

I got some pacestars on a new bike and think they're good. Similar to previous EVO versions - only they go tubeless with zero leaks. I've not had them long enough to give a thorough review - but - I would buy them again if they split etc (which they have no sign of doing in comparison to previous rocket rons I used to have).

I really rate them, loads of grip, decent carcass size and I've never had them burp. This is running them on some bontrager tubeless ready rims ( I use the tlr tyres)
Only thing I would say is they're definitely NOT a mud tyre, they look like they should clear mud well.. But they don't !

Cool how do the 2.25 size up, they still the mtb standard to go for?

How is rolling resistance on the road?

Don't bother with the USTs, just get the TLR ones, they're 200g lighter.

2.25 is about the same as previous versions - ie what you'd expect (apart from snakeskin / protection ones which are much narrower for some reason).

Seem fine on the road - growl a bit but not too draggy.

Used one on the front for the first time today. Tubless ready, double defence 2.25.
Nice tyre, good alround mix of speed and grip. Ok in muddy and dry bits.
There are better tyres for specific situations but this seems like a nice compromise. Easy to air up, very strong, worked well with Ralph on the back even in the really slimey stuff.
Can get on with training now and stop spending hours pontificating about tyres.

Which version of tlr to go for? There seems to be a few, it will be peak based riding if that helps....also how easy will the tlr ones be to get on with a track pump? That's why i go UST as they go on easy and usually have stronger sidewalls?

What didn't you like about the old tyres? I've used evo and pacestar and there wasn't much difference in the way they ride in my opinion. The sidewalls are stronger on the snakeskns that I now run and they were easier to seal, but the ride/grip are pretty similar. I use them all year round on all my bikes
