But you've already missed Shanaze - and she was bloody awesome.
still some big names to come
i didn't think she looked great - two faster already with loads to go as well...
track looks awesome.
They need Rob Warner commentating though..
Crash
i didn't think she looked great
Better than her last Olympic seeding run though!!
Oof!
keeping an eye on the live text on BBC website as iPlayer won't work here...
I was looking at the competitor lists earlier, Shed loads of Aussies/Kiwis and Yanks... One British male and one British female... FFS!
Could we seriously not rustle up more BMX racers for our own home Games?
OK Reede has to be a serious medal contender, but just one international level BMX competitor from the whole of the UK?
I suppose if its not on a wooden oval the UK doesn't really care...
New Zealander looked pretty good. American's crash looked pretty painful, chest slam !
It's great to see the venue full (well very nearly) and in particular the number of young kids there. Given the success of boarder and skier cross I am convinced this sort of side by side racing is the way to go.
@cookea - the BOC won't enter you for an event unless you meet their qualification standards. I agree it's a shame we don't have more competitors, there must be some talented kids we should have given a wildcard too.
Whats with the slo-mo coverage? Or is it just my BBC Player being screwy?

why is their geering so low? Ok start is important but its still not high enough..
I've only caught a bit of it - are the women and men doing the exact same course, if so the top women have been faster than the men so far?? If they do different courses then pffft why?
Don't follow BMX at all and watching this now have noticed many of them riding MTB clipless pedals, assume that must be the norm
Nice GB Phillips fastest so far... and his bike looked the coolest..
Go Liam!
Men have a longer course
Woo Liam Phillips!
how do i pronounce shanaze?

Is that an issue when it comes to standing on the pegs?

Nope, not been very big in this country since the 80's has it?

Womens course is massive
Mens course is mahoooooooossssiiiveeeeeeeeeeeeee
I doubt any of them use flat pedals. Despite the number and size of the jumps and potential choices (double, tripple, quad, manual them all etc) there's not that much overtaking after the first straight, it's all in the snap out of the gate.Don't follow BMX at all and watching this now have noticed many of them riding MTB clipless pedals, assume that must be the norm
b stad frog.
"he's going round this like garlic puree"
I think Warner has been drafted in as scriptwriter
If you had that stupid gearing you would need clippy pedals to stop your feet pinging off!

Sha-nays
Anyone think she's fit?
Could we seriously not rustle up more BMX racers for our own home Games?
If it was riding round the block with jumps made out of plywood propped up on bricks I reckon we'd win every time.
Actual BMX tracks though - do we have any of them any more?
Do they have rules over clothing like MTB DH? If not I'd have thought some would have risked being mocked and gone with lycra for the aero?
Anyone think she's fit?
Women can smell desperation.

If Ed Leigh is doing the commentary then he's mates with Warner - in fact they co-commentate on the Red Bull X-Fighters.
Great.. ๐

They just said they do have no-lycra rules yeah.

Less than the 80's when every village had one, more than 10 years ago when there were barely any. Even Reading now has a "practice track", which is borderline national sized (although odly no race track).

It's something like being able to pinch and inch of fabric at various points. And trousers are mandatory, ditto full face + peak.
Anyone think she's fit?
I'm usualy of the "if you cant say anything nice then........ frame of mind. But I'm sure she doesn't find middle aged IT middle managers attractive either, so not overly, no.
Unless you meant fit as in athletic, in which case she's 'ard as nails and usualy rides track too.

Think they just built a new one in Kent on the wasteland where they re-routed a section of A2?
Used to be another just a bit further down the A2/M2.
Pinch rule IIRC - you have to be able to pinch a length of material without stretching it so lycra's out (unless you wear it baggy ๐ )

There's a brand new BMX track near the velodrome in Manchester.

Isn't it indoor too?
Blood all over the course now!
Double oof! I felt that from here.
yep blood dripping out of the helmet, nice!
Isn't it indoor too?
It is indeed indoors. http://nationalcyclingcentre.com/t/bmx-centre
Can't help but s**** seeing them pedal like mad. Almost cartoonish.
EDIT: the crashes look pretty tough, unforgiving surface!
Two nasty crashes now....good job they were wearing helmets............... ๐
thats not where it is is an outside course in stratford...
bigdawg - we were discussing where other tracks are to explain why we only have one entrant
