Just seen the new Superlight for 2015 on the US SC site: http://www.santacruzbicycles.com/en/us/superlight
It's still has 100mm rear travel with geometry for 100-120mm up front, but looks like it will be available in 27.5" in sizes small & medium, and 29" in large and X Large - not too dissimilar to the Kinesis approach for their Ti frame. They recommend that medium is for riders up to 5' 10". Other differences are that they have lost the central bottle cage leaving only the sh1t shovelling one on the lower tube (an issue for me I must say), and that it can now take a larger disc on the rear wheel - up to 203mm for whoever needs one that big. Max tyre size is 2.3. Also has cable routing for dropper seatposts.
As an aficionado of the Superlight just under 5'10" it looks quite tasty. Never took to the idea of it as purely a 29er.
The bottle mount on the 29 was useless on my medium anyway. When I contacted SC in the US as to exactly what you could fit on the mount they said that they had put the mounts on by mistake.
It really annoys me when they don't put proper bottle cage mounts on.
It really annoys me when your a 'tweener. At 5'11 and for what I want a superlight 650b would be great. But the Geo would force me to a large.
I guess I could buy frame only and buy 650b forks /wheels.
I love my Superlight, I recon I could squeeze 27.5 inch wheel into it if I really wanted too!
Bantam looks great too.
What happened to the Blur or is that a silly question?

That is a very good question, the blur xc was a brilliant bike. I guess replaced by the big wheeled Tallboy.
Feels a bit like something that needs to be mourned. The passing of the Santa Cruz Blur. An STW favourite in its many guises. The original Blur, then the alu XC, then the mighty 4X, then the brilliant BLT, and the fancy carbon ones. RIP Blur. May deserve its own thread.
$1099 frame only, so that will £1200 here.

They fitted very slightly larger wheels to it, re-badged it as a Bronson and used marketing genius to sell loads of them at insane prices.
Very clever.
The bottle mounts are fab on the 29er superlights - You just need a magnetic bottle. LIke this.
Water bottle mounts and threaded BB with 100mm travel rear and 120mm front with HUGE mud room is what makes it useful.
I'm delighted to hear that SC are keeping with the Superlight, it's an all time classic IMO. If it's going to retail here for circa£1200, that's great value. I bought a Superlight frame in 2000 and it was £1140 - I still have the receipt and the frame, only retired last year and now gracing the wall in my workshop 😀
I'd love a go on the 650b version 😀
I did colne valley mtb challenge on my 26" superlight this year and it was awesome,I would go 650b but I'm with kryton57 on this with the cautionary frame and forks option,I wouldn't buy the full bike only because I would probably end up changing everything on it anyway.
I had a 29 Superlight. It rode great but lots of flex from the swingarm.
