I have a 2006 heckler, and noticed there was a little play in the pivot rocking side to side, I have tightened the Allen key bolts either side which has stopped the play, is this the right thing to do?

Doesn't sound exactly right, unless the bolts were loose in the 1st place, by now I'd image a new set of bearing wouldn't go amiss, single pivot bearings are pretty damned easy to replace (well were on my prophet and a m8's 5)... if you empty the shock of air (or totally disconnect it), can you move the suspension though it's arc smoothly, or is it tight...

You need to find out why they came loose. Very easy to change the bearings.

I uses to have a Heckler the same year. The first set of bearings lasted about 3 years but I then swapped them out every year as part of the spring service. The first set I fitted did need a tighten up after a couple of rides but as recommended, they are relatively cheap, very easy to replace and you will notice the difference. There are downloadable instructions online from either Santa Cruz UK or Jungle.

The heckler has lifetime bearing guarantee so the should be a free swap old for new at any SC dealer.

Take a look at the SC site for the techy bit on how to fit etc.

should cover it for you.

Yup, life time warranty from SC. Just dropped mine in to have them replaced after 3.5 yrs, not bad considering the conditions and amount riding done in that time.

The LBS is charging me a flat rate of £30 labour, as parts are free. I will purchase the removal tool at some point but atm its just easier to leave it with them.

Took everything apart tonight to see how easy it was to take apart, and found that the bearings where running quite freely. So i just cleabed them up put it back together and everything seems fine now. Has anybody torqued the bolts or just gone by what they think?
