I'm wanting to do that route..
May just join in on this! Looks good.
day or two? cant they decide? 120 miles is a fair old way in a day but if its summer solstice its very doable. I've liked the page as it might motivate me to up my game and get fitter again. nice link, ta.
Definitely up for this. Been meaning to attempt this in a day and haven't got my finger out this is the incentive I need. The route is 120 but looks doable in one but then it is 120 ooooo... That's the attraction
A day would be feasible but pushing it but it's easily doable in two. There are a lot of gates - I think I back counted about 100 (less dubious than counting sheep ๐ณ )
Didn't the guy who was one of the main instigators do it in about 12hrs?
I'd need to check strava but as part of the opening publicity someone did it in one but I *think* it was supported and missed a tiny bit of the route but balance that against fannying around for photos etc. That was maybe 12 or 13.
A friend and I did it and then rode back to Newcastle in about 14hours. FWIW we are no strangers to long rides and both fit and used to big long rides.
We under estimated it, the gates slow you down a lot and there is plenty of proper off road terrain, not just gravel tracks that you can fly along.
Was one of the harder rides I did this year, harder than the C2C in a day, probably on a par with the Kielder 100 (mile).
It was Rich Rothwell who did it in about 12 hours but I wouldn't use him as a bench mark unless you are an experience endurance racer.
