So I'm thinking of getting myself a Salsa Vaya, for touring and going on camping adventures.

I don't really know much about road bike sizing though (BMXer and MTBer to the core really!), and I'm struggling to make a decision about which one I need. I'm 172cm tall, which seems to fall rather neatly at the top end of the 54cm or the bottom end of the 55cm.

I can't seem to find a test ride in the Bristol area to try one out.

Are there any real world opinions on this anyone could share?

You are very nearly the same size as me, and I (a) live in Bristol and (b) have a Vaya (probably a 54cm) that I am probably selling frame and parts of.

Drop me a line.

Cheers

Jon

Surely it's niche enough that someone else here has one?

I've got one, I'm 5'11ish, with a 31" inseam.

I ride a 56cm.

Love it.

I bought a travel recently. Currently debating a triple or an alfine. Tough call. When I make it you can have a spin, I'm near Bristol!

Cheers fourbanger. What size have you got, and how tall are you? I've got an Alfine and I love it; it's been plugging along without a slip for maybe 3 years now. It's done thousands and thousands of miles and is on the original gear cable. Nuts.
