Does it look stupid?
Thinking of changing my 22-32-42 for an SLX 22-36 chainring set up and just going to adjust the limit screw.
Cage is longer and can't be lowered down due to a chunky chainstay.

Done the same on my soul and didn't even think it was an issue. You'll be fine

Not at all, people have been running double and bash set ups long before dual ring derailleurs existed.
By the way, swtiching to a double (24-38) was the best change I made on my bike, go for it.

cheers guys, am tempted to pick up a 24 granny ring as they cost peanuts as the 22 that comes with the SLX setup seems a bit small.
