Which one? Fancy doing away with the front mech altogether as mainly I ride in the middle ring. I dont fancy leaving my front mech on as a Ghetto-chain guide though.

Have tried DMR's in the past and found them to be a ball ache to set up properly.

Is there something plastic but doesnt need mounts (possibly sits behind hollowtech bb?) that I can use?

The Rolhof(sp?) one looks fairly good. Used a bash with a jump stop, chain only came of twice in a year on very rough ground.

Why not? It works, it's easy to set up, and it doesn't involve taking out your BB every time you want to tweak it.

In fact, I'd go a stage further and keep it attached to your shifter. And keep your granny ring too.

MRP do a dedicated 1x9 front chain guide for the job. It fits just like you describe.

for sale here.

Found this review here. Last post mentions a Pauls one, sounds nice and expensive!

out of curiosity why? If you 'mainly' use the middle ring, presumably you could still use another ring?

£37!!! 'Avin' a larf!

I was thinking of going 1x9 on my "Shedfire" Inbred. I'll just be running a SS chainring a road rear mech and a short chain.

I have to say I ran 1x9 and used to like it, BUT I really like having all the choices so am happy with 27 on my latest build.

I ran the 1x9 with an N-Gear jumpstop and a bash, if you didnt have those it dropped the chain...

Yeah £37 is a stupid price...
