My brother is after a rubbish car.. Don't know why but he is.

Something iconically crap like an:

FSO Polenez
Lada Riva
Skoda Estelle
Yugo
Etc...

So I have searched the local ads, eBay etc... Not much floating about so does anybody know of anything on the go for much cheapness?

I think he is planning a trip across Europe in it, just for the hell of it.

Anything else he should consider that is for sale?

Something made by Renault or Peugeot should do it.

If he's after something British then an Allegro or a Maestro will be sufficiently appalling for him.

You've got to do some serious hunting if you want a bargain price as well. It's easy to think you can get any old banger for a couple of hundred quid but sadly eBay has turned everything into a 'classic'.

Gumtree is the place to go for cheap cars. I just picked up a J Reg MR2 with 7 months MOT for £330.

It needs a few things done to it but it would probably drive OK till the MOT run out if I leave it as is.

The reason shit, old cars are so hard to find now is they were shit and got scrapped because they broke.

The reason shit, old cars are so hard to find now is [s]they were shit and got scrapped because they broke[/s] that they were all scrapped under the scrappage scheme, robbing our roads of variety and interest.

Damn. I was about to offer up a cheap as chips Saab 900 convertible. 6 months tax, 9 months MOT and a turbo the size of a dustbin.

God I love that car.

Most of the cars that people refer to as 'rubbish' on this list weren't particularly bad when they came out, and especially looking at the standards of the time. Whereas those on the OP's list were dreadful.

The only recent car that was crap when it came out that I can remember, and got rightfully panned was the City Rover. Early Hyundai's were quite poor too.

I don't remember those 120Y's coming as a coupe, at least not in the that shape. Is it a 'grey' import?

Perodua's must end up somewhere for peanuts or do they get hidden to prevent mocking?

Why doesn't he get a ferry across the Channel then offer to buy the first French car he sees in Calias?

Suzuki Alto (old shape):

My mum has one, completely bombproof mechanically but falling apart. Utterly horrible to drive and worth nothing second-hand.

Or a Daewoo/Chevy Matiz?

Some utter guff here people.. Well done.

My brother has been lurking and following the thread and is liking the chuff being suggested.

I'm a huge fan of the Maestro, the brown Cavalier estate and I actually like the Hyundai pony pick up.
