RS Revelations 2008...

[Closed] RS Revelations 2008 - warranty or service? Something is stopping them compress.

I have had some coil revs since last may. They don't get much use to be honest as they are on the older bike, it must be less than 500 miles use. They havent been taken to bits ever but do get cleaned almost after every ride. They have been working perfectly (hence no reason to take them to bits), after the last ride the bike was cleaned and left as usual (upright, not upside down or hanging or anything). The last time I came to ride it which is a month or so after the forks did not compress at all - it feels like something is physically stopping them. Is this a warranty job (still within two years) or will I be told to go away because they havent been fully serviced? If it is a warranty job (which would be nice because a TFT service is £80 or it will mean buying new tools) what are Wiggle like for such things.

Cheers
Sam

It's most probably damping oil that's leaked into the lower RH leg. My Pikes did this last week. It's a very simple fix if you're good with spanners. Mine are under a year old, but it was cheaper to DIY rather than send them back, so I did. It's just a faulty O ring. 🙂

....good with spanners sometimes. It's the little fiddly bits I am not so good at. I also don't have a socket set so would need to purchase that also.

Peter - you don't have to hand your legendary step by step guides at all do you? I searched here but to no avail.

No they aren't online anymore, and I haven't done one to cover this anyway.
The instructions are on the SRAM site though. It's the O rings at the base of the damping leg, where the rebound shaft moves in and out.

nor have SRAM by the looks of things (all air, no coil) unless they are covered in another fork's service instructions.

Ta anyway, tips taken on board 🙂

Ahh, it's nothing to do with air or coil, check the damping service bit! It's the same for both forks. 🙂
