Oops, it was leaking air, I think I may have overtightened it ๐ณ
So, easy enough to get a replacement but anyone got any tips for removing the broken air valve shaft from the upper can?
Thanks in advance
Mike
Any pictures?
Any thread left?
If there's some shaft left..try taping a new thread on it.
Put two thin nuts on, lock them against each other. Then you can use the inner one to unscrew the shaft?
Thanks Goldigger, good idea but it is like this one
Rather flat to the air can. I have tried using a screw extractor but the shaft is too soft and I didn't want to push past into the air can material.
Since there is a natural pilot hole already I thought if I get no better advice to use a very small drill on a slow setting. Either it will stick into the broken valve and and push it into the air can insides, obviously taking care collect the mess, or I can try to drill it out.

I seem to be having trouble posting images so here is a very similar on on the internet I found.

(Thanks to the original poster Rliey NZL) No thanks to me, making a real pigs ear of this!
OK,
Got it sorted... so if anyone else has this problem, ie snapping off air valve flush with air can, here's the answer, or an answer at any rate...
2mm drill bit, used very slowly, drill it into the air valve fragment from the outside of the shock. Make sure the remnants and burrs cannot get distributed into the shock assy, put a cloth or such underneath.
The 2mm bit is enough to bite into the valve segment but not enough to damage the shock thread by making contact, after a few drill bit revolutions it bites into the valve segment and screws it out under the air can cap.
Replacement full service kit includes an air valve. Job done.
